Cardano (ADA) is a third-generation proof-of-stake blockchain platform founded by Charles Hoskinson, who was also a co-founder of Ethereum. Launched in 2017, Cardano is built on peer-reviewed academic research, with every major protocol update going through rigorous scientific validation before implementation. This research-first approach distinguishes Cardano from most other blockchain projects.
The ADA token is named after 19th-century mathematician Ada Lovelace, widely regarded as the world's first computer programmer. ADA is used to pay transaction fees, participate in network governance, earn staking rewards, and interact with smart contracts on the platform. The total maximum supply of ADA is capped at 45 billion tokens, with approximately 36 billion currently in circulation.
The Cardano ecosystem is maintained by three organizations: Input Output Global (IOG), which leads technical development; the Cardano Foundation, which manages community engagement; and Emurgo, which provides commercial support. Approximately 16% of ADA's total supply went to the project's founders, with the remaining 84% distributed among investors.
Cardano's Technical Architecture
Cardano uses a unique two-layer architecture: the Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL) handles ADA transactions and balances, while the Cardano Computational Layer (CCL) executes smart contracts and decentralized applications. The network's consensus mechanism, Ouroboros, is a mathematically verified proof-of-stake protocol claimed to be four times more energy efficient than Bitcoin's proof-of-work system.

Fully agree, as long as all precautions are taken like the facemask and distancing in the photo. Bookshops are among the most vital British and that\’s not just English – and Western institutions, intellectually and recreationally.
Agency is the ability to act autonomously and freely, and in psychology the term is often used to refer to people who feel that they are able to act independently and effectively to control their own lives.
